You have a story and that story can become your reason or your excuse.
Your reason to excel, to be even more than you currently are or your excuse for never quite reaching your full potential. What do you choose?
At times, you allow yourself to feel alone in your story. You think you are the only one to go through what you go through. You think that people will not understand you and so you limit yourself to what you think they will allow you to be but who made anyone the judge and jury of you?
Only you can allow that!
And why would you?
Can you not see that we are not all the same?
So what, if they do not understand your story? So what if everyone around you does not understand why you do things the way you do them? You do not have to be limited by the people you have always known, you can choose to be you and find your real people. There are 7 billion people on the planet after all! Surely, your people are somewhere in there.
When it comes to business, I see people filter themselves…
Even I, if I am truthful, do it too.
I find myself filtering what I think and say via what will be acceptable and liked and so I sound bland, vanilla and I become the same as everyone else. And even I stop recognizing myself because I do this.
Aand the biggest loss is that the people I am called to serve may pass me by thinking that I am the same as the last person who had nothing unique to say to them.
And the huge problem with that, is that I go on to convince myself that no one wants what I have and so I keep refining my message and reducing it to make it more palatable to the vast majority of people but I really don’t want to work with the vast majority of people.
I want to work with MY people – The ones who I resonate with – The ones who understand THE REAL ME!
Not the filtered, watered down version of me – How long can I be that fake?
How long can you be fake?
How long can you water yourself down in order to be accepted?
And how long will you keep telling yourself that you have to do that? Really.
When will you wake up to the full, true power of your message, your calling, your story?
People are thirsty for what you have to offer and yet, you think that the people around you who have known you forever are your market. As Jesus himself put it, a prophet is without honour in his own country and home.
Familiarity breeds contempt – you know that, right? So why do you allow people who are not really your people when it comes to your purpose and message, why do you allow them to determine what you get up to? Why do you water down yourself based on them? Of course, they love and care for you but when it comes to your calling and your business, they do not get you.
Choose instead to speak clearly what you really want to say and call out the people who do want to hear you, the people who are thirsty for your message.
You cannot please everyone so why do you try?
In business, speak, write what you really believe. Use blogs, social media, radio talks, videos, audios to speak clearly what you really believe. Wherever you meet people, choose to be you, not a filtered down version of you.
In your home life, understand that the people in your home may not understand you so listen more than you talk. Love them fully anyway – Do not pressure them into believing what you believe. Accept them where they are and just love them, ok? They do love you even if they do not understand you so accept that and don’t change yourself to suit them.
Forgive them because it is easy to be hurt by those you love the most, isn’t it? They generally do not mean to hurt you.
Of course, if you find home life untenable then it may be time to take yourself out of that environment. Please understand that this is not a blanket rule, I do not know enough about your specific situation to make such a rule and yet, you know, in your heart of hearts, what is the right thing to do.
Allow yourself to be free to choose who you spend the majority of your time with.
And put yourself in an environment where you can get clear about your message and your story and how yuo want to serve the world.
Please remember you are an important part of the jigsaw puzzle that is this world and when you try to file away your edges, you feel adrift and alone and incomplete. And no one is served by you and your business.
Instead, own your true power. Speak boldly about what you stand for and let your people be drawn in by your story and allow them to work with you to get the result that only you are able to give them.
And please let them pay you for it!
