From my husband that no one wanted me to marry
To dropping my career that no one wanted me to drop…
To refusing to clean my home and telling the lovely lady that helps me out that I AM A DIVA and I am to be treated as one…
To saying out loud what I really think about religion and its fucking rules that stifle people…
To saying no to family members when they tried to manipulate me to do things they want me to do…
To a heckuva lot more things that I cannot mention here
And I KNOW there are much more things I need to say no to…
And every single time, I felt terrible when doing it, I just KNEW I HAD TO!
And each time, I did not know at the start how it would all play out…
I did not know if it would even work…
I could fall flat on my face…
I still could…
And yet, I HAVE TO!
Because the idea of getting to the end of my life knowing that I kept going along with everyone’s agenda EXCEPT MINE…
Knowing that I could have been more if I had just dared to be me, selfish, powerful, creative me!
That would kill me, that would be hell!
And so, I keep expanding…
I keep demanding what I want from life…
I keep showing up…
Even when I am scared that I will lose everyone and be alone…
Even when I am not sure whether I am a little deluded or not…
Even then, I KNOW I MUST BREAK FREE AND GO AFTER EVERYTHING I DESIRE!
Because deeper than the fear and the need to please the world, is an internal knowledge that I am born for more…
And I can have it all!
And I know that you have that deep quiet voice inside of you too…
