Yes, I know it is said that we must start with the end in mind and keep going with the end in mind. After all, if we do not know where we are going, how will we know when we get there and most of the time, I ascribe to this fairly limited way of thinking.
However, what happens if the end you created at the start is just not actually the way you want to go as you actually start taking the steps…
What if your goal is actually a limit to your real progress?
Too many times, people set goals that really are created because they think it is the way people expect them to go…
They set goals that seem to toe the party line…
It seems too crazy to want to go live on a beach for a year or two, painting pictures, meditating and creating wealth…
It seems crazy to imagine a life where you get to travel and see the sights while still relatively young and still create an income providing a service that you enjoy…
It seems crazy to never want to leave your house and create wealth by selling useful items from your bed…
It seems impossible to actually get a life where ‘UNCOVERING YOU’ and being that person is the end goal…
It feels selfish to even give it a go…
So, most people start with a false end in mind and wonder why they are not motivated to get there.
And then they get crazily motivated for about a second when they listen to a self-help tape or they notice someone else creating success in this way and they give it a try for a while but ultimately… they give up.
They become passive and they just try to get through the day doing what is expected of them and nothing more.
This is a sad state of being…
But hey, you started with the end in mind and maybe you even get to the originally stated end but then find it is nothing like what you hoped it would be.
You do not get the recognition you hoped for… ( You may even get made redundant!)
You do not get the financial success you hoped for…
And most of all, inside you do not feel satisfied…
There is a niggling suspicion that this was not the right path for you and that in steadily moving towards this goal, you have given up something of yourself.
And though you have tried to give up that ‘something’, it refuses to die and it calls out to you to be a little more courageous…
To dare to do something that seems impossible…
To give up doing things the way everyone else does them…
To dare to discover your own path…
To write down your own ‘crazy sounding’ dreams and make that your end…
To listen to that quiet inner voice that is calling out to you to change direction…
To repent from your lack of belief…
Your lack of belief in the fact that the way you were created is the way you are designed to live…
Instead you have spent your whole life trying to conform to the standards that others have set for you and now you wonder where the joy is gone!
You are a hard worker, no doubt! It is just that your hard work is a little misdirected at the moment as you keep moving towards a goal you no longer even think is right for you.
You think that the goal you have inside, deep inside, beneath the surface goals seems impossible and you have bills to pay, you have responsibilities and pressures that must be met…
There is no time to ‘follow your heart’!
Right?!
REPENT!
REPENT NOW! Before you get to the actual end and look back with regret on a life where you never really showed up.
You toed the line, alright! but you never allowed yourself to be the person you KNOW you are created to be.
You never allowed yourself to believe there was another way to create wealth and another way to live a life where you could in fact, have your cake and eat it.
You could build a business that allowed you the freedom to show up any old way you felt like showing up…
It seemed too hard to change direction so you allowed yourself to get more and more firmly stuck in a life you did not like and each year, it got harder and harder to leave it…
The thing is, when you look back on your life, will your ‘reasons’ be good enough?
We have one life – have you actually chosen what you want to do with it?
Beginning with the end in mind is a recipe for disaster, if you choose that end based on your fear that the end you really want is impossible.
With God, anything is possible and regardless of your belief system, God is certainly on your side so set your end goal based on what you really want, not what you think is practical or possible.
And then, do the work!
