Some days… things do not seem to go your way, do they?
And it feels like the gods of chaos are riding your back.
You try to shake them off but they stick around and you are ready to let them suck you under. You can hear the victim within you who is always looking for an excuse to come out asking “Why is this happening to me?” and yes, you can stay there, if you like.
But, who does that help?
Last night just as I went to bed, I realised that the files of the first three days of my new program ‘Wake Up To Your Purpose’ had gone missing because I had crazily not backed them up and my phone had shut down and was refusing to work ever. Of course, I only realised this last night as I tried to set things up.
I felt frustrated and still partly do as they need re-recording quickly as I have people waiting to receive Day 1 and all I have at the moment is this song.
I also discovered that I had priced the program wrong so I had to refund people and ask them to sign up again.
Of course, you read this and you can see that I did not cover my back in both of these situations.
But the victim place inside of me wants to grumble and wish that somehow, God, the Universe, something had taken care and pointed this stuff out to me earlier.
And I suppose I could live there.
But who does that help?
Am I powerful in that place of blame and relinquishing responsibility?
No, I am not.
My choice to wallow in that place would make me weak.
Everyday, we face choices about our reaction to the events of life.
Some of those events are a result of our own silly choices, some of those events are a result of things outside our control and yes, you could blame this or that person if you like or you can feel shame and blame yourself, if you like.
But how does that help anything?
Instead, choose to do the next thing.
Yes, I made a mistake and the solution is to refund and re-record. Simple.
No need for over-dramatisation of how I got here, No need even to promise yourself all kinds of wild and wonderful promises of how it will never happen again. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t.
You may prefer to learn the lesson so it does not, but hey… Maybe you ain’t ready yet?
And now you know, you can deal with it.
So, just get on with it.
Do the next thing.
Quieten down the crazy voices, give up on feeling like a victim and just do the next thing.
Because you can.
