As I write this, I am surrounded by my princesses in bed.
One is playing on the iPad and the other two are asleep and again, I remember how thankful I am that I finally realized that I can build a business while being with the people I want to be with, doing things that I want to do, when I want to do it.
It is a pleasurable feeling, indeed!
But for a long time, I thought that it would be impossible ever to create.
And for a lot of people, it still seems an impossibility.
We are taught to compromise, we are told to be realistic… we are told to play well with others and do what they want us to do and then maybe, one day, we will be able to live the life we want to.
I suppose you can go down that road.
I did for a long time…
And if I had carried on playing by the rules that had been handed me by other people, I would still be on that particular treadmill.
So, yes… you can play by the rules…
Or you can just start now to deliberately try something different.
On Friday, I was at a day event with my coach and again, I was reminded that there really are no rules when it comes to building business. In fact, most of the people who determine to stick to the rules, only create modest success, if that.
A lot of people try to do what they see others doing and create absolutely NO success because there is nothing unique about them – They are passively going along with what worked for someone else instead of learning the basics and adding their own flair on top.
Again, I was reminded to live life deliberately…
At the end of that, we went to a fairly swishy restaurant in the evening and well, I got to talking…
Talking quite a lot about all kinds of things from sexuality to trying to pretend my credit cards did not exist to recording my music and all kinds of stuff…
And I was reminded again that everything affects everything…
A lot of people try to separate themselves into boxes of ‘my work box’, ‘my family box’, ‘my hidden secrets box’ etc etc
And they wonder why the same issues keep popping up in different boxes.
If you feel held back in one area, you will find that you are held back in a whole lot of other areas too. You may be experiencing success in some places but it will not be complete and real because you have that hidden secrets box that keeps you from experiencing true success and finally, you will self-implode because you are not being truly authentic.
And we see that happening in the lives of a lot of public figures.
I know this is a bit of a rambling post of nothing and everything and yet the underlying thing I want you to realize is that leaders must live life deliberately.
In the ‘Live Free & On Purpose’ challenge, I am putting people through their paces as I ask them to think through things that they would not normally consider or things that they would normally sweep under the carpet and again, I want to invite you to take part if you consider yourself a leader or someone with big ideas who is doing some stuff but wants to do more.
Maybe, it is your hidden secrets box that is holding you back
Or it is your ‘I must play by the rules’ box…
So, as we start a new week, maybe it is time to have some new thinking in place…
I am daring to ‘bare all’ in this challenge and possibly face the wrath of people who think I am pushing the boundaries a little too far and yet, you cannot create freedom and happiness while you are still bound up in any area of your life and I am all about supporting you in being free to create abundance in your money, your relationships, your health, your work.
I want you to make a difference and make a fortune and you can only do that as you are free in all areas of life. Free to be you, free to show up fully because the truth is that YOU are the secret sauce!
