I have never been a normal kinda girl. I have always wanted more than the regular person. Always wanted to be seen, to be noticed, to be rich and to influence others to some good end of their own making.
But you know how it is…
You get older, life takes it toll on you…
People batter you down with their normal way of looking at the world…
They tell you that you need to limit your desires or else you will be dissatisfied and discontent for ever and YOU BELIEVE THEM! because it does seem like the normal way to live life is to settle for what you can get so OBVIOUSLY, there must be something wrong with you for thinking you can have everything!
For thinking you SHOULD have everything and never have to settle for less…
And so, you think you are flawed somehow…
And you try to give in gracefully…
But then you get bored with life…
Stay stuck doing work you don’t like to do but you feel you must do it to make ends meet…
You have to be practical and who said you have to enjoy your work?!
You can just enjoy the weekend and some of the evenings…
When you are not off doing some religious thing…
Stay stuck believing religious stuff that you don’t completely believe but you cannot quite question because hey, it might look like you don’t believe…
And you may lose your friends if you start to question stuff…
So you have to go along with it because well, what else are you going to do?
you know there is something out there and this particular religion seems to be the closest expression to what you believe and HEY, you don’t want to get crushed by lightning now! or end up in eternal fire and so, you don’t question anything…
You go along with it all…
But you are bored and so you start creating dramas in places where there need not be any dramas…
Just to add spice to your life…
Crazy relationships…
Crazy arguments…
Crazy food addictions…
Crazy sex addictions…
Anything to make you feel alive…
Anything to make you forget that you are bored, you don’t feel close to Spirit, you don’t sem to be getting the life you want…
All the while, you know you want more…
All the while you know you are born for more…
You can reinvent your life, honey!
I did.
I got fed up of being the same…
I did wait until I hit rock-bottom though…
I went through bankruptcy…
4 years of depression…
Before I finally realised that I could choose…
And even then, I veered towards the more practical choices…
Until my coach at the time pointed out that I could do something different…
And so, I began…
Shedding off the layers…
Responding to the desires within me…
Facing the fears head on…
No longer pretending to be satisfied…
Choosing to go after what I wanted in its entirety…
Nope, it was not easy…
Daring to deliberately design a life you want is not easy…
Not when you are so used to trying to fit in…
Not when you are so used to saying ‘yes’ when you really want to say ‘no’
Not when people want you to remain in a box and be predictable…
I got done with that…
And continue to strip off the layers…
I do the things I dream of doing now…
I figure out a way to fund things so I cannot use money as an excuse…
I dance with fear and leave it in my dust. I don’t let it stop me…
I distance myself from anyone who tries to tame me…
I put my energy towards being the person I see in my mind’s eye…
The sexy, rich, writing, singing, speaking, coaching, spiritual woman, mother, wife I choose to be…
Who do you want to be?
You can reinvent yourself, you know…
You can begin a program of breaking loose from the ties that bind you up…
You can simply start doing the things you thought you were not allowed to do…
Nothing stops you, you know?
Give yourself permission to explore the free-est version of you…
Who would that be?
What would you be doing?
What kind of people would you hang out with?
Who would you no longer hang around, if you let yourself be free from conventional thinking about relationships? and you were not so scared of being alone?
What do you truly believe about Spirit/higher power? What parts of your religion of choice bind you up? What would happen if you just stopped believing that? And instilled more empowering beliefs instead?
Go on, write it out…
Think about it…
And begin to be that person…
YOU CAN REINVENT YOURSELF right now!
You are not stuck!
Who do you want to be?
Fight for, deliberately design the life you want to live…
Because you want to!
