There was a time in my life when I doubted everything — whether I could build a business, whether anyone wanted what I had. I’d keep changing the pricing, the offers, the program names — everything — just trying to reach that magical moment when I’d feel absolutely certain. In my mind, that would be the day millions of lives were changed and millions of dollars flowed in… because now, I was certain.
But that moment never came.
One day, The Divine got my attention and said: “Certainty is a choice.” That was the moment I began overcoming the fear of uncertainty. I realised I could decide, in any moment, to be certain about my work — and from that chosen certainty, build my vision. Instead of waiting for an external sign that I was “on the right path,” I could choose certainty now.
That truth gave me relief. I allowed my business to grow with more ease, simplicity, and speed because I had chosen to believe in myself and my work. Now I teach my clients this too — especially entrepreneurs, though it applies to every area of life.
But like anything powerful, certainty has two sides. The same conviction that fuels your growth can also quietly build walls around you — and that’s where the danger lies.
The Dark Side of Certainty
In familiar situations, most people have already chosen certainty — often passively — and that certainty blinds them to any opportunity that doesn’t fit their self-imposed worldview.
I’ve been writing about this a lot lately because I see it everywhere: people missing opportunities for prosperity simply because those opportunities don’t match the labels they’ve accepted. This is one of the most common ways people unknowingly get stuck in limiting beliefs.
Take health, for example. You visit the doctor, get a label — “hypertensive,” “diabetic,” “ADHD,” “depressed” — and suddenly you’re certain the only solution is the prescribed medication. You stop looking for alternatives because the doctor (the “expert”) appears certain.
But here’s the truth: you know your body better than any doctor. And that doctor? They’re human, trained to see things in a certain way, and often constrained by systems, rules, and fear of being sued. They may appear certain — but even their certainty is limited.
Health is an obvious example, but this happens in every area of life. Because we crave certainty, we label people, events, and circumstances so we can categorise them and handle them as we have in the past. But this limits our ability to see all available options, keeping us stuck in the same old patterns. We then “prove” ourselves right — when in reality, if we’d allowed ourselves to stay in the tension of uncertainty while trusting The Divine, we’d notice far more opportunities for growth.
The Trap of Defined Lines
Physical reality is never truly certain. It shifts and changes constantly.
You’re rarely as stuck as you think you are — you’re just trying too hard to put everything in neatly defined lines. You think your safety lies in labelling everything and treating it the same way every time.
Living life deliberately means making conscious decisions, not passively following the same scripts because “that’s how it’s always been done” or because you’re afraid to sit in the discomfort of transition. I’m not advocating analysis paralysis — that exhausting place where you try to weigh every single pro and con until you talk yourself out of taking any action — but I am asking you to notice where in your life you feel stagnant and examine whether you’re trapped in a perspective that no longer serves you.
