Success, total, lasting, true success, as defined by you, can be yours.

OK, so let me define something for you here because though we each have a different definition of success, we all know that when we reach that success, we will feel amazing, happy, peaceful, all round awesome, right?!

.

And so it is the feeling we really want – That successful, happy, feeling.  That knowing that we have reached our goals.  That knowing that we are powerful enough to do amazing things.

.

And it is the feeling of being successful that will create success though most people think the relationship between success and the success feelings, works the other way.

.

That is a post for another day.  For today, I want you to realise something.

.

Again… Success, total, lasting, true success, as defined by you, can be yours.

.

In fact, it is already yours.

.

But YOU cannot accept that, not for long periods of time which is why you self-sabotage.

.

Do you know you do that?

.

Do you know that you only allow yourself to feel just enough good and success before you go looking to pick a fight, join in with some crazy drama or before you make yourself sick or before you internally tell yourself to be a little more sad before someone comes and takes away your happy?

.

Even now as I tell you that you do it, do you realise that it is YOU doing it, my love?  You, sabotaging yourself.

.

Trust me, I can only tell you this because I am paying crazy attention to myself and I realise just how much I do that.

.

It is a bit like being trapped by an elastic band – When we stretch our level of happy too far, we have to snap right back to re-establish equilibrium.

.

Except I finally decided that I did not want low-level sadness to be the place where I found equilibrium.

.

So, HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT THE SELF-SABOTAGE?

.

Level up your default state of being (you might even say, your default mood).

.

To do this, you have to be aware that

.

  1. How you feel (your mood) determines how successful you are (NOT the other way around)
  2. You have a default state of being (mood)
  3. That mood can be changed
  4. That mood can be changed BY YOU

.

I break it down like that because most people do not know some or all of those 4 things.

.

They think their success is a fluke or just because they worked their ass off.

.

They think their mood is determined by what happens to them so they do not acknowledge that they have a default state of being.

.

They think that because their mood is set by external circumstances/people, it cannot be changed.

.

And they also think that it cannot be changed by themselves.

.

They feel like prisoners to a bad mood.

.

And because they do not realise that the way they feel determines the life they live, they just keep keeping on in that victim state, wondering why life never changes despite all their effort or they simply settle for life being good in some areas and not in all.

.

And even when something good happens, there they go, looking for the catch, looking for the scam, looking for the bottom to drop out and then they do it to themselves or they live in a permanent state of fear that everything will be taken away.

.

And so before they know it, they are back to square 1 or WORSE OFF than square 1, complaining about how unfair life is or stoically plodding along, just trying to get to death without too many ups or downs.

.

That is not you, right?

.

It used to be me.

.

Not any more, though.

.

I got deliberate.

.

I remain deliberate.

.

Even this morning as I sat on my spin bike spinning away feeling so happy as I connected to the Divine and contemplated all the excellent things in my life.

.

I could feel the snapback factor, trying to get me.

.

‘Don’t be too happy, Rosemary.  You know something always comes to take it away.’

.

‘Remember that person who said that.  Remember what your brother said to offend you.  Remember what your husband did.’

.

And on and on the little niggles go in my mind, trying to bring me back to a lower state of feeling.

.

And the thing is, you can only fight it for so long before you notice that you feel down for no apparent reason when earlier on, you had felt so gleeful.

.

And the key here is to stay focused on what you want and how you want to feel.  IT can be as simple as choosing to feel successful, regardless of what is happening in your external reality.

.

Yes, there are times when doing clearing work is necessary but mostly, you have to discipline yourself to stop identifying with the negativity as though you have no choice but to stay there.

.

Let it go.

.

It is not you.

.

It is not happening now.

.

You can choose to feel happy now.

.

And then you can choose again to feel happy when you feel sad.

.

And then again.

.

Until you practise happy/successful so long that you have raised your default state of being.

.

You will notice that happier things begin to happen to you (and that they last longer) because you are now more available to happier things which will certainly help you feel happier.

.

Remember to keep stretching your ability to feel good.

.

NOTICE the thoughts that get you doing silly things like picking fights, rehashing bad events in your mind, feeling tired and ill, eating gumpf that makes you feel guilty for overeating, drinking until you do silly things.

.

NOTICE that stuff when it comes to mind and choose not to let it dwell in your mind.

.

Refocus as quickly as you can on happy, on how great life is.

.

It does take discipline.

.

It will feel impossible until it is done.

.

Find ways to feel good, my love.  That will stop the self-sabotage.

.
