Some days feel terrible, don’t they?  And then you just cannot seem to lift yourself out of the funky mood that has taken you over.

And then it bleeds into your work and you don’t want to do that, either and it feels like the more you try to resist the funky mood, the more it rises up to make you feel worse and worse and worse until all you want to do is nothing.  Go back to bed, cover your head with some chocolate or maybe watch some mindless TV with a pint of beer because you are just done with this!

DONE. WITH. THIS!

Where is the next station and how can you get off this crazy train?

And yet, you want to change lives, don’t you?

You want to impact the world, right?

And frankly, you want to create wealth!

Lots of lots of it!

And while you remain in the funky mood, you are not doing it!  You are staying stuck, feeling more and more bad about things as you realise you are STILL not doing the work you need to do to get the results you want.

So, what can you do?  Here are a few suggestions for you – No step by step.  Just try them and see what works for you.

1. Just feel it

Instead of trying so hard to overcome the emotion of it, feel its intensity and you will probably feel it passing as you stop resisting it and just go with it.  Recognise that you feel what you feel and it is okay for now.  Cry, whimper, do whatever it takes to stop resisting it.  You may think that it makes you strong to try to overcome it but really, all it does is make it last a little longer.

Feel it and let the wave of badness pass.

2. Start Moving

There is something awesome about moving the body.  It changes you when you get into action so maybe it is time to whip out the playstation 4 and the latest version of ‘DANCE’ and just dance the blues away.  Or maybe intense exercise is more your thing, you could whip out a Jilliam Michael’s DVD and get to work!  And as your brain focuses on on your body and the movements it is making, you may find that there is no room for the funky mood any longer.

3. Cheer someone else up

This work we do is all about supporting other people with our product, service or business opportunity, right?  So instead of keeping the focus on just how bad you feel, you could do something that helps other people feel more cheery.  For instance, this post is a result of my own funky mood and my eventual decision try and give others (and myself) a few ideas to lift the tone in my head and so here we go.  As I write this, I can feel myself beginning to feel better as I get all the internal tension out of me by moving my fingers hastily over the keys and focus my brain on figuring out what I will say next.

Hopefully, you do feel cheerier as a result of reading this post.  Do feel free to tell me about it in the comments.

4. Are you getting enough rest?

Sometimes, you legitimately feel bad.  Your body needs a break and you are not giving it one.  Again, if you are like me, you are on mission, purpose and you feel an internal need to reach the world in two seconds flat but there is life happening all around you and so, in order to find time to work on your business, you may be burning the candle at both ends far too frequently.  And I get it, you love that you can do that.  You love how productive it makes you feel until right now…

You feel tired, fed up and you start to wonder if you have anything worthwhile to offer the world.  HOLD UP!  Time to reset the clock here!  When you start to think that way, check in with yourself – are you getting enough rest? Are you taking care of yourself? and if not, maybe a little break is in order.

A little break!  not a long, never-going-to-come-back-to-business break.

Take a nap, meditate, get recharged and see how you feel.

In that time, you may even notice new ideas popping into your brain.  Write them down.

Make time to deliberately REST!  OKAY?

5. What can you be grateful for?

Gratitude is another attitude adjuster.  Choose to think of a minimum of ten things that you are grateful for.  Write them down, choose to really FEEL grateful.  Let the feeling course all the way through your body and stay with that for a little while until you feel ready to get back into work.

6. Go for a walk and people watch

Now this has two benefits – it gets you moving and also gets you remembering why you do what you do – People!  Of course, it could make you irritated with the people you specifically meet on this particular walk but hey, anger is better than just a passive bad mood, right?  You can create a ranty blog post out of anger whereas that is not so easy to do when you feel nothing but down!

7. Do some adult colouring books

I don’t know why this can be so cool but it is.  You can become like a child again as you colour your crazy away.  Well, please don’t lose the crazy, it is what makes you so adorable, just lose the mood in colouring and being creative.

When last did you do some colouring?  I know it seems childish but that is the point.  Children lift themselves out of funky moods considerably quicker than adults do but we get so exasperated with them for having the mood for about 3 seconds.  Cut them some slack and do the same to you.  BUT NOT A WHOLE DAY’S WORTH OF SLACK, OK?

OK, you have some ideas – implement and lets get back to fighting for, creating the life and the business that you want.

Please remember.

  1. Your vision is your permission.
  2. You are capable of your calling.
  3. You are much more powerful than you realise.
  4. Yes you can get everything you want.
  5. You are loved. You are enough. You are worthy. You deserve the very best of everything.
