I spent a great deal of my years in churches and one of the major flaws in these institutions (as well as ALL institutions) is this idea that the WHOLE must be maintained at any cost.
.
And that cost is usually its individual members.
.
HOw many times have I seen people hurt and wounded because their specific needs were not considered relevant to the maintenance of the WHOLE MACHINE?
.
Suddenly, love for each individual member takes a back seat as the MACHINE OF SPREADING THE GOSPEL or MAINTAINING THE PHYSICAL BUILDING or whatever the grand vision is, takes priority.
.
And it is accepted as the way it has to be.
.
And in fact, the wounded members are then ostracised as they are unable to keep up with the program and so they are called ‘backslidden’ or ‘too negative’ or whatever and so, suddenly, their WHOLE RELATIONSHIP STRUCTURE (something they have depended on THEIR WHOLE LIFE, in some cases) is destroyed because they no longer fit in with the status quo.

“Oh my gosh!!! they had an independent thought! We better squash that quickly, at ANY cost, before they infect the rest of the flock!”

This happened time and time again.
.
And you may think that I feel pity for these individual people but I don’t. They are not victims. The chances are that they did it to someone else with an independent thought and they probably called it ‘love’.
.
The thing to remember when you are about to go on a ‘how victimised they are’ trip is that Everyone is powerful enough to make their own choices.
.
No, I am not bitter or resentful about the church or its leaders. Most are loving people who, just like their followers, think it is the only way to do things.
.
And I see that I had a choice.
.
I ALWAYS HAD A CHOICE and I chose to pretend not to see that something was wrong with the way things were done.
.
Until I had a few too many independent thoughts of my own and then I could no longer not see.
.
And I had to choose.
.
Push it all back down again.
.
Or get off the dance floor.
.
It takes courage to get off the dance floor when all you have ever known is on that dance floor.
.
Same thing with being a pharmacist.
.
I took that on, to fit in with what was expected of me by family.
.
to not do it was to risk offending all those who had ‘sacrificed’ for me.
.
A silent but very firmly established rule within my family & culture, was to do what you are told.
.
Marry someone we all like, so that they do not put crazy ideas in your head and take you away from us. Who cares whether you truly love the person or not? Just make sure it is someone we can all approve of (and control).
.
Yes, I broke that rule and had to handle the craziness that came from that.
.
Go to religious organisations that we approve of but remember that church can never take precedence over family ( I broke that rule a few times and then broke up with church too!)
.
Again, this is love as people understand it so no one meant me any harm. They genuinely wanted and still (for the most part) want what is best for me.
.
However, I always had a choice from the moment I turned 16 or so, as to whether I went along with it or not.
.
And then there is the institution of the world bubble, or massmind or what can I call it…
.
You get educated in order to get a good job and you stay in that good job, paying taxes for things you may or may not want and you keep doing that until you retire or die.
.
You may complain about it but you should never do anything to change it.
.
If you try to, then your loved ones are scared for you and try to manipulate you back into submission.
.
Your friends accuse you of getting too big for your boots and being too much about the money, though you all spend way too much time complaining about not having enough money but if you actually try to fix that problem with anything other than getting another boring job then there is something wrong with you.
.
And even as you start to get that business off the ground that potentially employs lots of people and allows them security, you are somehow cast as the horrible money-grabbing ogre who is avoiding the crazy taxes that no one wants to pay but you SHOULD Pay more because you had the audacity to face into the fears that everyone has and refuse to be cowed by them.
.
I could go on.
.
But in some ways, it does not matter what the institutions or massmind does.
.
To me, what matters Is that each individual person see that they have choice.
.
The institutions may try to tell you that IT IS MORE important than the individual parts and therefore try to make you feel guilty for taking care of yourself and afraid that you will be alone and broke in retirement if you dare to do your own thing but YOU ARE THE ONE THAT HAS THE CHOICE AND THE POWER TO IGNORE IT.
.
Personally, I do not really pity anyone.
.
I will probably never join in with all the people marching around the place shouting about freedom and injustice and all that because for the most part, EVERYONE IS ALREADY FREE but they are CHOOSING not to be.
.
I see everyone as strong.
.
I see everyone as powerful.
.
My big vision is to remind people of that and to support them in harnessing that power.
.
The institutions can only exist in their current form while individual people tell themselves that they are not as important as the WHOLE.
.
No one can take from anyone what they do not choose to give away.
.
Each person gets to make a choice as to whether they will continue to be a cog in the machine of someone else’s vision or if they will recognise that SOURCE is their strength, not some institution, no matter how couched in ‘holy’ sounding words (designed to make you feel guilty for not being a member of one of the institutions) it may be.
.
This does not just happen in church.
.
It happens everywhere.
.
People will give up their freedom in order to be part of an institution that promises security, certainty, prosperity in this life or the next.
.
And the ‘saviours’ of the world think that if they can fight with the institutions then they can free people.
.
But people have got to want to be free.
.
They have to choose to be free.
.
And no longer see themselves as victims, willing or otherwise of a deity, an institution, a whatever.
.
I did not see it.
.
Now I cannot unsee it.
.
And all I feel I can do is remind each person about who they are whilst empowering myself to be all I can be for me and mine.
.
Ultimately, the INSTITUTION is not greater than its individual parts.
.
It IS its individual parts.
.
And it is only as each individual person rise up and step back into their true design that the institution changes.
.
So, All that to say – AWAKEN, honey.
.
AS you start or continue on this spiritual awakening or whatever type awakening you consider yourself to be on, you will feel out of place in a world that wants you to be the same as everyone else.
.
YOu will feel afraid, uncertain and you will wonder if you are deluded for thinking that life can be different.
.
CONNECT to Source, your true power source, and keep focused on what you desire to create.
.
The world will be improved for it.
.
the world will not be improved by you continually fitting in with it and dampening yourself down so as not to offend anyone.
.
And though there will be pushback on you because you are doing something different and it upsets the balance of other people asleepness, ignore that and keep moving forward in the direction of your desires.
.
Master yourself, honey.
.
That is the best gift you can give the world.
.
MASTER YOURSELF!
.
I can help. It is what I am called to do.
