Fixed Mindset – What does that mean? You might ask… How is it relevant to whether you are poor or not? How can you change it? How can you move forward?
Yesterday, I was having a pretty bad day! The truth is, it was all in my head. You know when you just cannot seem to dig yourself out of a funky mood… You know that feeling, right?
Well, that was me yesterday. I tried hard to pull myself out by the bootstraps but that would last only a few seconds before I seem to sink back into this black cloud of a mood. Thankfully, I have invested in myself sufficiently over the last few years that I now have a great group of people I can call on to chat to and coach me out of my craziness. Who do you have?
Why do I share this? Because I need you to know that I am human too. I struggle with the same things most people struggle with. I am very creative so my moods can be truly erratic if I give them free reign and yet despite this, I have accomplished financial freedom.
Why not you?
Is Your Fixed Mindset Making You Poor?
Maybe, you suffer from a fixed mindset, you think that your intelligence, talents are stuck. You think they are inherited, perhaps and so you are unable to change anything about your results. You think your basic abilities were set in stone when you were created in your mother’s womb and further reinforced by your upbringing so now, wealth is only for other people.
I am here to tell you that you are mistaken.
That belief you are carrying in your mind is making you poor and you need to decide not to live there anymore. Have a read of this article if you get a second.
The problem with this mindset is that it really does skew the way you perceive your results, the way you perceive your circumstances and the way you live your life. You start to put up with things that you really should question because deep inside of you, you believe change can never come.
You accept your lot in life as though there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Maybe you even once tried to do something different because you got inspired but then you did not get the result you hoped for and since then, it has been the evidence for your refusal to try anything else again.
You see this failure as permanent when really it was just a lesson to redirect you.
Do you understand what I am saying? Are you getting the picture?
Tell me, where are you stuck? Where do you feel like things can never change?
Watch out for the next part of this post on Monday as I show you ways to move that Fixed Mindset to more of a growth mindset.
