Ease Up On The Rigid Walls You’ve Built Within Your Mind

By November 26, 2025No Comments

I had a dream last night

A missionary couple kidnapping children

That was judged as BAD

They kidnapped children to take care of them

That was judged as GOOD

They were not arrested, even when discovered.

The end seemed to justify the means.

Every day, you make judgments based on what you’ve been trained to believe is good or bad.

The ‘good’ is allowed

The ‘bad’ is disallowed

But when was the last time you questioned your assessment instead of making snap judgments?

And particularly if you come from a religious background, you were likely told to reject the idea of relativity — the grey areas…

You were told relativity was “new age nonsense,” definitely not of God — and so you believed it, passively.

Halloween – BAD

Self-Denial/Suffering – GOOD

Witchcraft – BAD

Total Abstinence Until Marriage – GOOD

Pornography – BAD

Cutting off non-believing family/friends – GOOD

Homosexuality – BAD

Tithing – GOOD

Abortion – BAD

Working on your holy day – BAD

Divorce – BAD

Therapy/Coaching – BAD

Birth Control – BAD

Alcohol – BAD

Secular Music – BAD

Black people – BAD

White people – BAD

Negative emotions – BAD

Positive emotions – GOOD

You like to categorise everything and everyone into nice neat containers of ‘good’, ‘bad’, ‘scammer’, ‘angel’ and so on…

And usually, more things fall under ‘bad’ than ‘good,’ and your life shrinks and shrinks — but you tell yourself stories of how holy and righteous you are and how you’ll be rewarded in the next life for all this restriction…

Or you’re simply unaware that this is why you feel so restricted — these ideas are so ingrained you don’t even see them, let alone question them.

Most people accept that nothing is all good or all bad — but you, with your religious/spiritual/ethnic programming, feel everything must be clearly labelled. And it stifles you.

On the surface, you might seem like everyone else, but you hold yourself back in countless little ways because of these insidious ideas…

Deep down, you love these clear-cut judgments because they mean you don’t have to think. And because you feel powerless, you passively choose to believe that some deity or karma will deliver harsh justice to anyone who doesn’t toe the party line. It gives you a sense of power, control and safety.

I had an ex-friend who was obsessed with the idea of God punishing everyone who had ever wronged her or anyone else — sending them to hell for all eternity.

She could not grasp the concept of unconditional love.

She thought I was suggesting that the Divine was weak if ‘bad’ people weren’t punished, and she challenged me with questions like, “So should murderers and kidnappers not be punished by God for their sins?”

She seemed excited by the idea of eternal judgment for anything ‘bad,’ and unsurprisingly, she cut me out of her life because I wasn’t ‘good’ enough for her — her words, not my assumption.

Knowing her story, I realised she was in a life situation that made her feel powerless, so I understood her need to claim some form of power… I guess.

It’s out of this kind of judgment that concepts like eternal fire and Satan/Devil came — because in order to have a ‘good’ God, someone else had to be responsible for the ‘bad.’

But wishing for something doesn’t make it true — there is only ONE power behind all things, only ONE Source, and everything (whether you judge it good or bad) exists within that ONE Source.

I won’t lie — I was brought up religious, and even I still struggle with the idea that even the so-called ‘bad’ comes from the same ONE Source.

Yet, the more I learn about how life works, the more I realise I don’t truly understand.

I’ve become less comfortable pretending to have all the answers, and more open to new ideas.

In my more religious days, this was exactly what you were NOT meant to do — you were meant to be rigid, fixed, set in your ways, or else the devil would claim your soul… or something.

All answers were supposedly found in the sacred text — even though interpretations clearly shifted from generation to generation, city to city, denomination to denomination!

WAKE UP & EASE UP!

Your rigid thinking is stifling your whole life.

Stop thinking in terms of ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and start thinking more deliberately. You cannot judge every situation the same way, and your need to do so keeps you from seeing nuance, from growing, and even in the next life, may limit what you allow yourself to experience.

WAKE UP & EASE UP on the rigid walls you’ve built within your mind if you truly want to prosper.

Your judgements are YOUR OWN.  They are not of the Divine though you might pretend that they are to give legitimacy to your rigidity.

You keep yourself from prosperity and pretend it is for noble reasons.  How silly!

Again, WAKE UP & EASE UP!

And if this resonates with you, even if you cannot quite see where you are holding yourself back…
