On Friday, I was practicing with my new-found music producer! A whole new venture for me and who even knows what will come of it…

But this is the thing…

Who cares?!

For a very long time, I have loved singing.  Since I was about 12 and even before, I have led choirs, been the school pianist, sung at church, learnt to play organ, a little bit of piano, read music, play guitar and so on and so on.

And yet, I never really thought I could do anything profitable with it.  I still remember my chemistry teacher at school in Nigeria taking me aside and asking me why I was choosing to focus on the sciences and become a pharmacist when it was obvious that I loved music, singing and all that stuff…

‘Well, ask my parents’ was my response.

There is no money in music, right?

There is no way to make a living doing music, is there?

Well, the truth is, there is money in anything you or I decide to make money at.

I have not done it yet but does that mean that it is impossible?

I think not.  If anyone else in the world is making a living from music, then why on earth can’t I?

Ok, the truth is, I do not want to become some kind of celebrity singing person at all.  That is not really a part of the picture I have.  My music is more about encouragement, inspiration, motivation and all that.  It is just an extension of what I currently do – A bit more of the puzzle for me.

Which is great and also kinda weird because again, I don’t really see it used in the way I would like it to be used.  Although, now that I write this, is that the truth?  I still remember going to America for the first time in about 4 years ( and leaving my kids for the first time in ever!) last year for a coaching conference with the amazing Rich Litvin.

His wife, Monique DeBose, came up and did the most amazing ‘improvisation with song’ workshop EVER!!!!

And all I could do was weep!  I just sat there and cried my eyes out because suddenly, it all seemed possible!  Maybe, just maybe, the dreams in MY heart were achievable.  It is easy to believe it for others, not so easy to believe for myself!

Those 4 days will be remembered as days that changed the course of my existence.  Even as I type this, I feel the tears coming up again as I remember how I felt then.

Since then, I have given into doubt many, many times, thinking it is impossible again.  How can I claim to help people with their business, with making more money, with living out their purpose and calling and then also, start to sing at them?

 

I mean, it is crazy, isn’t it? The Singing Entrepreneur Mentor Coach!!!

And finally, after that experience last year, after months of working with my super-successful, ‘makes a million dollars a year’, ‘Be You’ coach & my ‘See right into your heart – Know You Are loved’ coach (yep, I have 2 of them – How do you think I function so highly!), I finally stepped out of the shower one morning a few weeks ago and realized that I HAD TO DO IT!

How could I, in any integrity, tell people that they can do whatever they dream of doing and then in the same breath, keep pushing down my own ideas, my own dreams, my own possibilities?

What kind of a hypocrite would that make me?

So… I made a choice…

I am going to do it anyway.

And so, let’s talk about you for a second…

What do you think is impossible and weird and crazy, even though you really want it to happen?

What do you think you cannot do, even though in your heart of hearts, you wish you could?

Make a choice…

Then BEGIN! Begin NOW!!

Don’t begin because you expect it all to look successful tomorrow…

Don’t do it because the numbers look like they might work…

Don’t do it because you want to look good to anyone, anywhere…

Do it because you must…

Do it because if you get to the end of your life and you never gave it a go, then you will feel like you never lived…

Do it because there is something inside of you that must be expressed…

Go on… BEGIN!

Just BEGIN!
