Some people – Whatever their circumstances, no matter the drama they have faced or even are currently facing, no matter, no matter, no matter – THEY SUCCEED!
Other people – Whatever the happiness all around them, no matter the good things that are theirs, no matter, no matter, no matter – THEY FAIL, FAIL, FAIL!
It is as though some people are programmed to prosper and others are programmed for struggle and drama and rubbish.
I used to think this with my tenants…
There were just some tenants who found a way to make everything a drama and I kept thinking that if they just redirected their head and their actions, they would be the wealthiest, luckiest people in all the land…
In fact, when I first started Landlord-ing, I would even tell them and try to encourage them to redirect their efforts, I would spend ages and ages with them, taking them places, speaking to people on their behalf (even my princesses got dragged along on these ill-fated trips) etc etc etc and still nothing! Nothing! NOTHING! The tenants would default to drama & hardship & possibly even blaming ME for causing it in their life!
Yep, I learnt the hard way that unless people ask to be supported and are willing to invest in themselves, you are better off leaving them alone as the chances are, they will misconstrue your help as condescension or something horrid in some way!
And in my current line of business, same thing applies…
Lots of people say they want things to change but really, DO THEY?!
All around them are opportunities but all they focus on is the few things in their life that they are lacking and so, they get more of lack.
And you know what, I too can be like that!
Some people would look at my life and see that everything I touch turns to gold and yet, I have the tendency of only seeing where I am in lack.
I forget the journey I have been on…
I forget where I started…
All I see is what I do not have yet…
And so then, no matter how much I am surrounded by abundance, I do not see it…
I got called on this yesterday by my million-dollar coach (everyone needs someone to call them on things – who does it for you?)
We live in a world where it is too easy to focus in on all the things that we or other people lack as if by focusing only on lack, we can create abundance!
When I put it like that, I see the truth in it.
How can we create something we want if we focus only on what we do not want?
Imagine Steve Jobs focusing only on the lack of computers that he liked – Do you think he could have created the Apple Computer or brand? Nope, he would have just been like the masses of people around him who thought what he imagined was impossible.
Or Bill Gates for that matter – He had a vision of computers in every home EVEN WHEN THERE WERE NO COMPUTERS IN EVERY HOME and then he went on to make his vision of abundance a reality.
All around him were people who wished and moaned and groaned about the fact that there were no computers in every home – In fact, most people around him at the time would probably have thought it an impossibility but he just had a vision in his head and he went about creating it out of seeming NOTHINGNESS…
And he lived from that place of abundance…
He served from a place of abundance…
And so, he created even more abundance in the world…
Abundance, most of us take for granted now as though it has always been there…
I type on a computer now whereas before I would have been lucky to have my own typewriter!
Like all of us, I am sure Mr Gates had his moments of doubt and fear and he probably wondered if he was just plain old crazy but he kept pushing through until his vision of abundance became a reality of abundance…
See how it always starts in your head.
I am pretty darned blessed that I have a rebellious streak inside of me because with my default way of thinking, I could have created a mess of poverty and lack.
I have a need to be different from everyone.
I refuse to settle down and just take what life hands me.
And so, I push, push, push to create something different, to make whatever I choose to do a success, regardless of how unlikely it seems.
And yet, I wonder how much easier my life could be if I just really completely focused in on how grateful I am for the many blessings in my life instead of pushing against the lack I am running from.
What if I focused on just how awesome it is to be me right now in this day and age where I can take care of my princesses and create an income…
How awesome it is to be building a community of people around me that I enjoy serving…
How awesome it is that I do not have a boring job to go to…
How awesome it is to be able to watch my girls grow up…
How awesome it is to travel to different places whenever (Earlier this year, it was the Bahamas, Next month, Bali is on the agenda)…
How awesome it is that I KNOW I never have to settle for anything I don’t want so I can explore as much as I like knowing that I am never stuck…
How awesome it is to build a business being me, flaws and all, and attract the right people into my world…
How awesome it is that I live in a pretty cool house with a large garden…
How awesome it is that we have the use of 2 cars (One pretty messy one, for sure!)…
How awesome it is to wake up and not have to rush anywhere (No crazy school routine and yep, I already said ‘no job’!)…
And how awesome is it that I created this…
I envisioned it in my head and I created it.
Yes, there are parts of my life that I do not like and I am sure you have those parts too. But what does it gain us to focus in on only those parts.
To find people or circumstances to blame for our misfortunes…
Does it make us feel any wealthier?
Or does it just make us see only the drama and nonsense?
I am fed up of being someone who keeps seeing just what I lack…
I choose instead to focus in on what I do have.
I choose to love my ‘right now’!
I choose to live an awesome life right now!
I choose to be thankful ‘right now’!
I choose to open my eyes to abundance ‘right now’!
And you too can choose that, if you want…
