So, you have been pushing and hustling and trying to make things happen…
And everything just feels tough…
Your prospects are not paying you much attention and you wonder why on earth you bother…
The last sale was days away and nothing you seem to do is getting you anywhere fast…
And then you look around you and everyone else seems to be zooming full speed ahead of you…
They seem to be getting results when all you are getting is tumbleweed floating gently across the screen…
And let’s be honest, you feel jealous…
Deep inside, you do want them all to prosper but right now, you are fed up of hearing all their success stories – You want your own!
And you want your own now!
1. Acknowledge the fact that you feel this way
You feel what you feel.
Yes, you know what the gurus say about jealousy and the green-eyed monster and yes, you know that there is nothing that these peeps are doing that you cannot do as well and yet…
You cannot shake the feeling of jealousy.
So just acknowledge it to yourself – It is a valid feeling at the moment for you. rationalizing yourself out of an emotion is not going to help, it just gets hidden, eating you up inside so shine a light on the feeling.
2. Whip Out Your Journal
Write out what you feel and why you think you feel it. Just write, don’t judge.
Watch out for areas where you think that what ‘they’ are doing is way beyond you.
Watch out for thoughts of lack – Are you starting to believe that there is not enough to go around?
Watch out for areas where you feel unwilling to do what they did and maybe, you feel bad about that because you feel that that may condemn you to being stuck forever. For instance, you know that someone you are watching worked with a particular, really expensive guru and you do not feel able to shell out that kind of cash. That can leave you feeling like you will never get the success you want but it would not be true unless you make a judgement about it.
Discard any such judgements and figure out what you can do to accelerate your progress.
Recognise where you are not similar to the person in question and acknowledge the things that you can do instead.
3. Don’t Resist The Feeling
I have said this but literally, close your eyes and let the feeling be.
Logically, you know it is not real so be at peace and let the feeling be.
The longer you stay in silence without resistance, the sooner you will feel the feeling pass.
4. What can you do next?
When it comes down to it, the only thing that will get you results is ACTION. So, what is the next step?
What is the next thing you can do to get past this feeling of despair and jealousy and keep you on the path to fulfilling your goals?
Remember, for business goals – the only thing to do is to grow your audience, tell them what you are about and invite them to buy something from you. So, keeping that in mind, what can you do next? And no matter how irritated you feel with other peeps, if you do not stay on path, all you will have is your jealousy! And you do not want that.
5. Put Blinkers On
Stop comparing yourself to other people. The only competition you really have is YOURSELF! so make a decision to be better today than you were yesterday and keep doing that every single day.
Keep your goal in mind and take the next step. It does not really matter how long it takes you because it is inevitable that you will get to your dream if you stay on path and keep doing the work you know to do.
