Network marketing is a great way to get into business but there are certain things to consider when starting up.

1. Is it a scam?

This is a question you will come against a lot of the time. My advice to you would be to let it slide right off your back. Some people just refuse to get it and all the arguments in the world are not going to make them see things differently.

 

It is like hitting your head deliberately against a brick wall if you decide to keep trying to get them to see things your way, so don’t bother. Instead, work on attracting more of the people you want in your team.

 

2. that whole warm & cold list thing?

Yes, it is a great idea to get over all your fears about approaching people but it does get tiresome for the people on the receiving end of your excited and enthusiastic ‘subtle’ and not so subtle pitches.

 

Stop telling and telling them, show them.

 

By all means make sure that every one knows you are now in business for yourself but please, leave it at that. Let them ask you for a presentation, not you forcing it down their throat.

 

3. Become a great networker

The other issue here is that you will inevitably run out of people when you are dependent just on the cold and warm list to get your business off the ground.   You need to become someone who always connects with others wherever you are.

 

And if you are not that person, then…

 

4. Attract people to you

Get good at marketing yourself and do it in a way that feels good to you. Communicate frequently on social media, and your own blog and invite people to take a look at what you are up to. Let it be their choice. You do the work of attracting them with thing that will entertain, inspire, educate them.

 

What do I mean?

 

Write blogs that help people figure out how to make money

Write articles and submit to sites where your people hang out.

Build a social media presence and do regular updates.

 

Yes, this method is slow but when you attract people through your communications, they need less selling to because they get you already. They have read your stuff and are ready to work with you. Advertising is great but these leads are dead cold so it is a hard sell. Instead, invite people to take a look at what you are up to or more to point, meet people where they are and help them solve some problems and invite them to join your team after that.

 

5. You have something great to offer and this is for the long haul.

Please do not give up at the first sign of trouble and do not demean what you have to offer by becoming a spammer.

 

Never forget that this is an opportunity you are giving people and it is something to be proud of. Never allow yourself to act purely out of desperation. Always have your people at the front of your mind when taking action and ask yourself if this will allow them to see the amazing opportunity for them or not. IF not, don’t do it.

 

And remember to play the long game. Yes, you were sold on the quick and easy way to riches and freedom but expect it to take some time to work. It is a business and businesses do not always grow to order as quickly as you want them to.
