Some days, I feel like a dude!
And I suppose it is one big reason that I like working with dudes (as well as females, of course!) but seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY, ladies and this one is particularly directed at you…
If you want to be successful, if you want to impact people, if you want to build a business that changes lives then there is a time to ‘feel’ and be all intuititve and woo-woo about it and there is a time to just look at what you are doing and figure out what you need to change so that your business starts to work.
And sorry, ladies, men are just better at this.
There is no room for getting all emotional and spending all your time in navel-gazing instead of just doing the work that will lead to your business growth. If business was easy then everyone would do it. You have to get a little strategic about it. Please do not get me wrong, it is not all about strategy by any means, but if you think you are going to ‘feel’ your way to success without getting down to earth and doing some solid work then you are mistaken.
It will not work.
You will get frustrated and you will possibly quit and think that you gave it a good go.
And you probably did.
But ultimately, you did not stay in action long enough to get the results you want.
And I know I sound pretty darned harsh but I assure you, I know exactly where you are.
I have been there.
In the hoping and praying that just the affirmations, the ‘feelings’ the intuitiveness, the praying, the journalling etc would work.
And it is definitely a part of the formula, but it is not the whole formula and anyone that tells you otherwise is not helping you.
I dabbled like this for ever, I read all the books on the woo-woo…
I wrote out all the afirmations…
Spent all my days in journaling…
Dreamt and dreamt of the impact I was going to have…
Even had the friends, the lovely supportive friends, telling me I was doing enough and to take a break…
And then had some coaches talking all about love and happiness and such…
And I realised that I could keep going down that road or I could take everything they said and add on some serious hard work and then maybe, just maybe it would work.
The thing about dudes (not all, of course – just generalising here 🙂 ) is that they look at the numbers, they see what works, what does not work and they tweak accordingly and the women I see that make success work, have what some may call a male streak within them.
I have been told that I can be pretty darned masculine and I used to mind that and try to tone everything I said and did down but it helped no one. Now, I see there is room for both.
And I see that most people think that to be spiritual or soul-centred or heart-centred ( and these are all terms that attract mostly women!) means that you don’t need to be down to earth as well.
And so they struggle and wonder why they struggle.
It is because you are not being practical about this and you are listening to people who are talking airy-fairy instead of giving you the facts. Of course, the moment you sign up with them, if you are lucky, they will start to talk the truth which is that you have to work pretty darned hard and there is still no assurance or entitlement to things working.
But if you are truly unlucky, you will sign up with a coach who really does think everything is fluffy bunnies and heart shaped signs and you will struggle and struggle to make things work. (The truth is, they are probably struggling too!)
I mean, business is challenging even when you love what you do but if you misguidedly spend your available time only journalling and then thinking that everything will somehow work out because you are now super-clear and shouting out your affirmations, you will be sorely dissappointed.
The question is, how willing are you to hear truth?
Or would you still rather hope and dream and wish that things will work without any solid action from you?
I know this post may offend some as they dream along in their la-la filled world of ponies and unicorns and such.
But for the rest of us, who are commited to a big vision of world change, there is some room for dreaming but it cannot be allowed to take up all the available time in our work day.
It just cannot.
I hope you understand that I do do my journalling and my dreaming every single day but then I follow all of the big picture dreaming with this next question to bring it all down to earth – ‘How does all this come to pass?’ “What do I DO in order to make this happen?”
And then I get to work.
I check my paid advertising and see what is working and what is not…
I check my free marketing and again, see what is working and what I need to do more of…
I check my productivity – Am I doing what I need to do to keep increasing my audience? or am I getting far too caught up in busy work…
I check my calls to action – Am I DAILY inviting people to work with me?
And no, things do not always work but I am always tweaking, optimising, and testing things to see what is working and then I do more of what works!
It seems simple but sometimes, peeps get all emotional about it and I do, too.
I get emotional about creating wealth and making a difference and I go off course to a la-la land of nothingness and I have to be brought back down to earth by my very earthy/heavenly coach or my darling hubby who always brings it back to the money.
And sometimes, you just have to bring it back there.
I now it feels uncomfortable and I must admit, even as I write this, I feel uncomfortable knowing that I am possibly offending some people but I have to be truthful with you.
And understand, I am the singing business coach so I am not the norm at all. I get all the woo-woo ness but it will not work alone. It just will not.
And you do know it, don’t you?
There are just some things you do not want to do, so you hope that you can wish them away by affirmations, prayers and such.
And the sooner you realise this, the quicker you will create success in your business and life.
YOu have to actually DO THE WORK.
The REAL WORK, not the busy work.
The uncomfortable work which becomes comfortable because you just do it.
Feel your emotions – they are valid.
Some days, it will feel pretty hard.
Feel it but then remember why you do what you do and get back into work.
Do not rest on your laurels thinking that you have worked hard enough and surely, it should be working now.
If it isn’t working, then your work is not done.
That’s it. Simple.
So, what is the next step?
Do that and keep moving forward.
And okay, you can have a bit of a pity party for a while (I need those every so often) but figure out out how to get out of it quickly so you don’t waste your most valuable resource – time.
And if you are really serious about growing your wealth and making a difference in your business, then honey, firstly grab the free entrepreneur wealth pack from RosemaryNonnyKnight.com/toolkit and then if you want a harsh reality type of call where we hash out what is getting in the way of you making the money you want to make, then lets have a conversation – a fierce conversation.
