How Come No One Likes Me? – A Few Keys To Be More Likable

How to be more likable

Does it matter if no one likes you?

Yes.

The truth is, as a solopreneur building your million dollar business, you need a group of people to like you, to trust you and to perceive you as the person who can help them get results through your product, service or opportunity.  And no, you do not want to appeal to every single person out there and frankly, you could not even if you tried but there are a few keys that will attract the right people into your world.

These are a few simple ideas for you to be perceived as a more likable person to YOUR ideal customers.

1. Smile & Laugh often

So simple and yet, when faced with your smartphone, ready to do a video, you might find your face goes into frown mode as you think of all the things you should be saying and doing to get your message across.  Instead think of the people you are trying to communicate with and smile, laugh, be natural.

2. Say Please & Thank you

Good manners never go amiss when dealing with other people.

3. Ask Questions

When in conversation with other people, be the one asking questions AND listening to the responses.  This shows that you actually care abotu the other person and also, it helps you glean enough information to be able to help them.  It gives people the impression that you care about their opinion (and you do, don’t you?)

4. Do not look at your phone

Those mini contraptions are replacing real conversations with real, right-in-front-of-you, people and it makes people feel irrelevant when they are talking to you and all you are doign is glancing at your phone or actively texting someone back.  It is rude and definitely does not help people feel cared for.  Put your phone on silent (no vibrate wither) because it is so hard to ignore it when you get a notification.

5. Be consistent

When you say you will do something, do it!  When building your business, your prospects need to knwo that you are not a fly-by-night so set up some actions like regular social media updates, twice a week emails and blog posts and stick to it.  Let yoru prospects start to expect to hear from you at a certain day – it gives them a sense of security which in turn, makes you likable.

Every so often, change things – YOU do also have to have an exciting element to you.

6. Make people feel good

Think of the language you use.  Think of your body language – Does it leave people better off than before they met you?  most people want to feel good so use language that encourages them, do not hand out judgements all the time, give people the benefit of the doubt and let them feel good about themselves.  Even when you have to be critical in order to support them, ensure you have earned the right to be critical by building a firm foundation of ‘I care for you and want the best for you’.

Let people feel secure around you.  You are more likely to get a better response from them.

7. Remember people’s names

I am pretty bad at this.  I can generally remember facts of the people’s lives but their name tends to escape me.  However, I know how valued I feel when people remember my name.  Do whatever you can to start remembering names.
